"If you want more time, freedom, and energy, start saying no."

-Anonymous

Good Day Good People,

I am going to ask that before you read any further that you pause right here:

...Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... take a deep breath in exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

Why is it so hard to say no?

... think about that for a moment...

No| a negative used to express dissent, denial, or refusal, as in response to a question or request.

We all have to do things we don't want to do....right? That's life. But sometimes we find ourselves doing things we don't have to do because we don't want to say "No". Then, resent it later...

When was the last time you wished you said no but didn't?

...what were the circumstances... why didn't you say no... how did you feel after..?

Saying "No" has it's benefits, in ones professional life as well as personal:

  • Saying no allows you to be honest with your feelings... speak up, and don'y feel guilty about it

  • Saying "No" is empowering and builds self confidence... you begin placing importance on your own feelings and needs

  • Saying "No" leaves room for your to say yes to the things that you are passionate about

  • Saying "No" frees up time for you to focus on your own list of priorities

  • Saying "No" gives others the opportunity to step up... grow... learn

"No" is a complete sentence. Learning to say "no" when you authentically mean "no" is a life skill. For some it comes quite naturally... for others, it may take some time and practice. Mastering the skill of "saying no" will promote good overall emotional health.

Today's Challenge: Allow yourself the opportunity to say "No".

When someone makes a request don't feel obligated to respond immediately:

  • Say, "Let me think about it... "

  • Or, "Let me take a look at what's on my calendar and get back to you.."

Give yourself time to think and consider the impact it may have on you and your life.

What will you say "no" to today?

...without feeling guilty... or providing an elaborate explanation...

Let's be intentional and encourage others to do the same... Watch what happens...

You got this!
