“Although difficult, change is always possible. What holds us back from making the changes we desire are our own limiting thoughts and actions.”

– Satsuki

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

How much time do you spend thinking as opposed to acting?

Think about that for a moment... out of 100%, how would you break it down?

It there something you’re attempting to avoid and disguising it as thinking about it?

...be honest with yourself...

If you’re human, you’ve been there. Guilty of overthinking. No worries. You can turn this around. Stop overthinking and minimizing progress by your own limiting thoughts. Positivity Blog shares twelve habits to help:

12 Simple Habits to Stop Overthinking Everything: (positivityblog.com)

1. Put things in a wonder perspective: Ask yourself, “Will this really matter in 5 years, or even in 5 weeks?”

2. Set short time-limits for decisions.

3. Stop setting your day up for stress and overthinking:

  • single-task and take regular breaks.

  • minimize your daily input: too much time checking your email, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram account can clutter your mind and make it even harder to think.

4. Become a person of action: Set deadlines and a good tone for the day.

5. Realize that you cannot control everything.

6. Say stop in a situation where you know you cannot think straight:

  • Perhaps you’re hungry and taking a moment to eat will lead to more productivity.

  • When your mind is racing with negative thoughts, practice stopping them in their tracks. Acknowledge them for what they are, and keep moving forward.

7. Don't get lost in vague fears: ask yourself: “honestly, what is the worst that could happen?”

8. Work Out: working out can really help with letting go of inner tensions and worries.

9. Get plenty of good quality sleep:

  • Keep the temperature of your bedroom cool

  • Keep the earplugs nearby to block out noise

  • Don’t try to force yourself to go to sleep. Wind down on the couch for 20-30 min first, reading may help.

10. Spend more of your time in the present moment. Slow down...

11. Spend more of your time with people who do not overthink things: Your social environment plays a big part. Not just the people and groups close to you in real life. But also what you read, listen to and watch. The blogs, books, forums, movies, podcasts and music in your life.

12. Be aware of the issue (and remind yourself throughout your day): Being aware of your challenge is important to break the habit of overthinking.

“Nothing can harm you as much as your own thoughts unguarded.”

– Buddha

How will you guard your thoughts and stop overthinking?

...what are you willing to do...

Don’t miss your opportunity! Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
