“Every violation of truth is not only a sort of suicide in the liar, but is a stab at the health of human society.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present…
Truth seems to have taken on a new meaning these days. It is not as easy to find the truth anymore. There was a time when you received information from leaders, officials, reputable media outlets, one was comfortable trusting the information as truth.
How do you define truth? Think about that for a moment...
truth /noun/
the body of real things, events, and facts : ACTUALITY
the state of being the case : FACT
In Iyanla Vanzant’s Acts of Faith, the author made a powerful statement worth sharing:
The moment we accept what is given to us as truth, we lose our conscious reality.
We must investigate
We must probe
We must seek
We must ask questions
We must be in charge of our own reality and know our own truth.
"Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth."
-Mahatma Gandhi
What is your truth, the truth you stand on?
How to Find Your Truth
by John Kim LMFT psychologytoday.com
Make sense of your story: Your story is a powerful tool for self-discovery. It's what makes you unique, potent, and strong. Denying or ignoring your story can lead to a sense of being lost or disconnected. Take the time to reflect on your life experiences, both positive and negative.
Check your ego: Many of us have become so focused on how we want to be perceived by others that we have lost touch with our true selves. Starting from how you want to be remembered, rather than how you want to be perceived, can help you reclaim your authenticity.
Stop living your lies: Determine if your behavior aligns with who you want to be and make the necessary changes to live in alignment with your truth. it's crucial to remember that your truth is not just about you. It's about the world experiencing your potential. Your truth is greater than you.
Acknowledge and explore false beliefs: Dig deep to understand where these false beliefs and lies stem from. Reflect on the first time you had those beliefs or when your actions matched those beliefs. By exploring the origins of your false beliefs, you can gain insights into how they have shaped your perception of yourself.
Listen to it: Listening to your truth means not only being aware of it but also standing on it. It means being courageous enough to play out what is honest to you, even if it may be uncomfortable or challenging. Your truth is a powerful force that can inspire and empower those around you.
"By doubting we are led to question, by questioning we arrive at the truth."
-Peter Abelard
