“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very thing, why do you worry about the rest?” -Luke 12:25-26

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

worry:

/verb/

give way to anxiety or unease; allow one's mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles.

/noun/

a state of anxiety and uncertainty over actual or potential problems.

Why do you worry? You… Make it personal as you reflect and formulate an answer…

According to counselor, author and blogger Meg Selig, The opposite of worry is not a still and unchanging state; rather it’s a flow of emotions that enables us to acknowledge whatever we are feeling, to express those feelings when necessary, to take action if possible, and then to welcome the next feeling that emerges. To sum it up in a word, the opposite of worry is “mindfulness.”

Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy."

How does it feel to worry? Think about that for a moment...

Worry…

... noise created in your mind because it couldn’t figure out a better technology....

What is the purpose of worry?

...It keeps you from having to take action.

Think about the words above... breathe and let them sink in...

When you find yourself worrying ask yourself:

  • Is it a real possibility?

  • Is there any action I can take right now to make a positive difference?

If you can’t say YES to both of those questions, shift your mind immediately:

Begin with a wonder question that asks something you genuinely don’t know the answer to: Gay Hendricks gives these examples:

  • “I wonder... how I can always have enough money to do all the things I want to do..?”

  • ...I wonder where my future husband will take me on our honeymoon?

  • ...I wonder how many people I will be able to help when I pass this exam... get this promotion?

See how many “Wonder Questions” you can generate by the end of day and notice how much lighter you feel.

Leave your worries behind...

You got this!
