“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”
— Buddha
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
Why not be present?
Being present simply means you're focused and engaged in the here and now, not distracted or mentally absent. (healthline.com)
How can you make it your reality? Think about that for a moment...
We spend a lot of time worrying about the future. We get stuck holding onto fear of so many things that in reality are out of our control.
How can we make better use of our time and energy?
We are human after all… However, focused, intentional practice, will create healthy habits and lead to positive change. Being present is a good place to start:
Benefits of Being Present:
1. It can make it easier to manage stress: Being present by acknowledging fears and stress triggers, and working to mindfully accept them, can benefit in the long run. Cultivating present-moment awareness makes it easier to cope not only with a single stressful event, but also later stress on the same day as well as events in the future.
What do you fear? Spend some time with this question... what keeps you stuck..?
2. It helps relieve mental health symptoms: Studies have shown present-moment awareness, helps reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
What matters most to you right now? In this moment...
3. It can strengthen your relationships: Ever spent time with a friend or partner who kept looking at their phone or saying, “Sorry, what?” No one wants to feel ignored. It can negatively affect relationships. Being more present will have a positive impact on relationship satisfaction overall.
What are you willing to do?
Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.
You got this!
