Wednesday's Wisdom

Tavia Robinson

”Sometimes you must hurt in order to know, fall in order to grow, lose in order to gain, because life’s greatest lessons are learnt through pain.”

-Nagato

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

I don’t know about you, but this time around I plan to learn the lesson (LOL). Wisdom is power!

What has pain taught you? Take time to articulate an answer before reading further...

Today’s meditation in Iyanla Vanzant’s book, Acts of Faith, began with this quote from Actress, poet, and Civil Rights Activist, Ruby Dee.

“Lord, make me so uncomfortable that I will do the very thing I fear.”-Ruby Dee

I had to read the above quote several times in order to wrap my head around Ruby Dee’s request to be uncomfortable... I was able to take breath and begin to think about and appreciate the value of fear...

Pain can be a great motivator to face what we fear. Pain is the catapult; when the walls are closing in and we feel stuck, that releases us out from what once held us back. Vanzant explains:

When the time comes for us to let go of the things we know are holding us back, all hell breaks loose.

QUESTION: What have you been denying... dismissing? Think... Dive deep... Don't rush..

Nothing forces us to move faster than pain.

QUESTION: What are you avoiding? Spend some time here...

When we are in pain, we must do something to make ourselves feel better.

QUESTION: What is the call to take action? Actions steps... what will you do..?

Fixing ourselves to stay where we are is the very source of our pain.

QUESTION: Where are you hurting yourself or others in your life? The source of your pain you need relief from...

Remind yourself...

Pain tells me there is something wrong.

QUESTION: What is wrong? ...What does right look like for me (this ain't it!)?

“We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.” – Kenji Miyazawa

What are you willing to do?

Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional. Encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
