Tuesday's Talk

Tavia Robinson

“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.”

-Isaac Asimov

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

What assumptions have you made about your experience in that have not served you well? Think about that for a moment... consider the way you view the world...

Where does your “light” come from? Spend some time reflecting... Take a deep dive...

In the book, A Year of Living Consciously, Gay Hendricks encourages us to be open:

At every moment you have both the chance to:
1. Resist the learning opportunity it brings by pretending you are having the wrong experience...
2. Embrace the learning opportunity by assuming you are having the correct experience.

Reread Hendricks' words above:

What are you resisting?

How can you embrace this experience as a learning opportunity?

Today’s Affirmation: from Gay Hendricks

Today I open to the learning opportunity in every moment.

Remind yourself of the above affirmation as you embrace the challenges life brings to your experience.

“I am the thinker that creates the thoughts that create the things.”

-Dr. Johnnie Colemon

Thoughts are powerful. They fuel our belief system and impact how we view the world around us.

Iyanla Vanzant explains the power of our thought this way:

From the book, Acts of Faith...

A belief is the most contagious influence you possess. If you believe in circumstances they will defeat you.
If you believe in yourself you are assured victory.
There is a wonderful inner world at work within each of us.
We fuel this inner world with initiative, ingenuity, and a picture in our minds. The world responds and produces according to how we fuel it.
When we put the forces of our inner self to work with good thoughts, it will produce according to our system of ideas.
If we can keep our inner world clean, fertilize our minds with productive positivity, the powers within will create, with dynamic force, all that we believe is possible.

Today’s Challenge: from Iyanla Vanzant’s, Acts of Faith

1. Visualize a world without discrimination based on color, class, gender, or age...

2. What can you contribute to building that new reality?

Contagious influence starts with you!

“Fuel your inner world with positive possibilities.”

-Iyanla Vanzant

What are you willing to do?

Don’t miss your opportunity! Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
