"Remember, you have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn't worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens."
-Louise L. Hay
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
How self-critical are you? Think about that fir a moment...
Criticizing ones self can be a strong self-fulfilling prophecy. It’s so easy to find fault in ourselves. We’ve normalized it so much. We’ve become so desensitized to it that we no longer notice our own negative self-talk.
Iyanla Vanzant states in her book Acts of Faith; “A positive, healthy sense of self-value and -worth is the foundation of our happiness and success.”
Are you ready to turn this around?
Repeat these words from Vanzant’s Acts of Faith:
I am my greatest hero.
I now create a positive pattern of self-worth because I believe I am the best.
Stand in front of a mirror and say it again. This time like you mean it!
Challenge your inner critic! From positivepsychology.com
Whenever you notice your inner critic starting to surface:
Pause for a moment. Ask yourself:
Does this criticism have any factual basis?
Is my inner critic being kind or helpful?
Is my inner critic telling me something I need to know?
If none of these things apply, tell your inner critic to see themselves out!
Today’s Challenge: Channel the hero in you!
Describe a time when you realized a dream or goal and became your own greatest hero. Stay here until a specific scenario comes to mind, dig deep...
What encouraging words did you offer to yourself?
Keep that same energy!
“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.”
-Will Rogers
What are you willing to do to reclaim your position as hero of your own life?
Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional. Encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.
You got this!
