“Don’t downgrade your dreams just to fit your reality. Upgrade your conviction to match your destiny.”
—Stuart W. Scott
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
I opened one of my favorite books this morning, Iyanla Vanzant's, Acts of Faith, and this question really made me stop and think:
How long will it take us to realize we have an unlimited account with the universal bank?
It further stated:
Our prayers make the withdrawals. Our faith is the deposit.
Do your prayers reflect your faith in your unlimited account in the First Bank of the Universe? Think about that for a moment...
The question brought me back to what Psychologist Gay Hendricks called an “upper limit” problem.
What is an upper limit problem?
When we achieve success, happiness or wealth, our ego tends to bring us back down within the lines, in other words our comfort zone, by giving us negative thoughts or behaviors that ruins what we've achieved. (huffpost.com)
What are some of you limiting beliefs?
not educated enough, afraid of trying and failing, have to have money to make money, I don't deserve it, I'll never be able to do that...
Today's Challenge: Do not to let these negative thoughts cloud the truth. Set your own limits. You can do what ever you put your mind to. Believe in yourself. Shift your mind... Dream big and continue to reach for what you desire!
Here are 5 Ways to Tackle the Upper Limit Problem: ( medium.com)
1. Recognize the comfort zone. Acknowledge it so you can get past it. Self-awareness is powerful.
2. Notice where your upper limit is and when the problem starts. Identify the point where the self sabotaging thought and or behavior set in. What got in the way..? Calling it it will fizzle it out.
3. Feel what happens when you’ve gone beyond that limit. You can't control feelings, resisting them can male matters worse. Get to know them and soon you will be able to react in a way that allows you to move forward.
4. Be gentle with yourself if you resist. Practice extreme self-compassion. It's normal to revert back to limiting beliefs that have been a part of you for a long time. You are human. don't beat yourself up. Revisit your goals, and move ahead.
5. Carry on with the badass habits that brought you the success. Continue doing what works. Make adjustments when needed. Bet on yourself, and never give up!
