“Not getting what you want either means you don’t want it enough, or you have been dealing too long with the price you have to pay.”
—Rudyard Kipling
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
What is it that you really want? think about that... big or small... what is is..?
What is standing in your way? why don't you have it... no excuses... what part are you playing..?
Trust has been a reoccurring theme this September. Specifically self-trust.
Iyanla Vanzant reminds us: "If you are willing to accept that life is on your side and wants for you exactly what you want for yourself go ahead and ask for it."
This requires self-trust:
If you think you can handle having it...
If you believe you are worthy...
If you love yourself enough...
If your heart is open and free of hatred, anger, resentment or fear...
If you believe you deserve it
If you are not afraid of what people will say
Ask for it.
Today's Affirmation: from Iyanla Vanzant:
I am devoted to do what I need to prepare myself to have exactly what I want.
What do you want bad enough to do what you need to do to get it?
To help clarify what needs to be done, Take a look at these tips from Member Press.
6 Best Ways to Get What You Want: (by K.G. Carter memberpress.com)
1. Ask: This is the first rule of negotiation. If you don’t ask for it, you won’t get it. You will be amazed at how much you can accomplish if you just ask. It doesn’t have to be confrontational. Don’t let the fear of rejection stop you. It’s just a simple question. If they say “no,” then you smile, say thanks, and move on.
2. Be prepared to handle it: One of the first things we should think about when deciding we want something is to ask ourselves if we are ready to deal with whatever comes with that thing. A little thinking and preparation before you actually get your ‘want’ will go a long way towards your happiness after you get it.
3. Be persistent: One of the most common things in this life is deciding you want something, going after it, and then giving up on the idea at the first sign of difficulty. Knowing before you start working toward something that you will be faced with challenges and difficulties will help you get through them easier. The real strength is developing the skill of discernment to know when it’s time to turn the persistence off and move on. A smart person sees that ‘failure’ as a lesson. A lesson in learning better what they really want and changing course to achieve it.
4. Set goals, track, scoreboard: A goal not written down is just a wish. Writing something down is a very physical way to commit to something. Psychologically it flips a switch in your head and makes it more real. Now you have some accountability. Scoreboarding is a practice where you take any metrics associated with your goal and display them somewhere easy to see.
5. Study people who have what you want: No matter what it is you want there is likely someone else out there that has it or has achieved it before you. Try to learn how they achieved what you are trying to achieve. What did they have to do to be successful in getting what they wanted? Find out the challenges and difficulties they faced. If you can, talk to them and ask them what they would do differently. A lot of people will admire your interest and might even offer to help you to achieve your goals.
6. Help others get what they want: Spending time helping others to achieve what they want will have two effects. First, you will build up good Karma that can help you in your efforts to achieve what you want. And second, it will help you learn. You will learn what motivates others and what different ways there are to get things done in this world.
“Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.” —Jules Renard
