Let's talk some more about character.
What does it mean to be a person of good character?
Think about that for a moment...
I'd like to share with you:

1. Integrity- conducting your life with strong moral; principles and core values
2. Honesty- telling and living the truth
3. Loyalty- faithfulness and devotion to anyone with whom you have a relationship with
4. Respectfulness- treat yourself and others with courtesy, kindness, deference, dignity, and civility.
5. Responsibility- accepting personal, relational, career, community, and societal obligations even when they are difficult or uncomfortable.
6. Humility- having a confident yet modest opinion of your own self importance.
7. Compassion- deep sympathy for the suffering and misfortune of others and a desire to alleviate their suffering.
8. Fairness- using discernment, compassion, and integrity to make decisions and take actions you believe will yield the best outcome for all involved.
9. Forgiveness- making conscious, intentional decisions to let go of anger and resentment toward someone for an offence... whether or not forgiveness is sought by the offender. This included forgiving yourself.
10. Authenticity- the ability to be your real and true self without pretension, posturing, or insincerity.
11. Courageousness- in spite of fear, discomfort, or pain.. having the mental fortitude to carry on with a commitment, plan, or decision, knowing it is the right or best course of action.
12. Generosity- willingness to offer time, energy, efforts, emotions, words, or assets without the expectation of something in return.
13. Perseverance- steadfast persistence and determination to continue, even if it's difficult or uncomfortable in order to reach a higher goal or outcome.
14. Politeness- applying your knowledge of basic good manners, common courtesies, and etiquette to all people you encounter.
15. Kindness- warm pleasant interactions... being considerate, helpful, and benevolent to others.
16. Lovingness- willingness to be open and vulnerable... expressing how deep you care about those you love through your words and actions.
17. Optimism- A sense of hopefulness and confidence about the future... having a positive mental attitude in which you interpret life events, people, and situations in a promising light.
18. Reliability- consistently depended upon to follow through on your commitments, actions, and decisions. You do what you say you will do.
19. Conscientiousness- the desire to do things well... being through, careful, efficient, organized, and vigilant in your efforts.
20. Self-discipline- using a strong sense of self-control, willpower, and good habits to reach a desired goal.
These twenty traits describing good character I'm sure you have heard before.
Why does character matter?
