Tuesday's Talk

Coach Tavia

"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."

-Apple Inc.

Good Morning Crazies,

I hope the above quote made you smile. How does it resonate with you?... Think about it for a minute... reread the words and sit with them for a moment... let them sink in...

What would happen if you let go of your "fix it mentality?

...that inner problem solver, the one that immediately sees every person or idea that is different from your own as a problem that needs to be fixed...

How would your vision change if you listened generously to others and saw others as open spaces of creative opportunity?

Think about that co-worker that always says the most inappropriate things... Did you ever ask them what was going through their mind? How about the odd person... that moves very different than you... often by themselves... When was the last time you spoke to them other that the polite "good Morning?

It is human nature to want to fix things. Especially when someone is going through a difficult time and you see them unhappy. You want to fix it for them. But, are they broken? Do they need to be fixed?

What is the lesson to be learned?

"Cherish forever what makes you unique, 'cuz you're really a yawn if it goes." -Bette Midler

I challenge you today to: Intentionally do your best to do more "unfiltered listening.". Get rid of your "Fix It" mentality. As you interact with others, do so with no other agenda than to appreciate what they say. Watch what happens...

You got this!
