Thursday's Thoughts

Tavia Robinson

“Today someone had asked me who my person was. I thought about the question for a moment and said, ‘I am.’.”

-Broms The Poet

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

“I Am” and so are YOU! The confidence and power these two little words exude in the quote above and wherever these words are placed or spoken.

Reading one of my favorite devotionals this morning, Iyanla Vanzant's, Until Today: Daily Devotions for Spiritual Growth and Peace of Mind, inspired today’s message:

The affirmation of power being offered today is I Am!

Not I’m hoping, I wish, I’m trying, I want to, or I would like to

Open your mouth and say “I Am!”

affirmation /noun/

  • a positive assertion

  • asseveration, avouchment, avowal, claim, declaration, insistence, profession, protestation (merriam-webster.com)

Please read the following words from Vanzant out loud:

I Am good!
I Am grateful for my good!
I Am surrounded by good!
I Am completely good!
I Am totally good, inside and out!
I Am richly rewarded for all the good I Am!
I give off good and good returns to me!
Who I Am is a good thing to be!

How good are you? Real question... kindly summon your creative energy to answer before you continue...

“I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.” -Martha Washington

Today’s Challenge: "I Am!" and so are YOU!

(from Iyanla Vanzant's Until Today...)

  • Acknowledge that who you are is good

  • Craft three (3) to five (5) “I Am” statements. Write them down (3 is the minimum)

  • Try them on for size by saying them out loud in front of the mirror with your most confident voice.

  • Post your personal favorite I Am affirmation.

  • High achievers, record your vice, save it on your phone, play it back whenever you need a boost.

“I am willing to acknowledge I Am!

-Iyanla Vanzant

Encouraging yourself with confidence gives others permission to do the same.

What are you willing to do?

Don’t miss your opportunity! Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
