“. . .Everybody knows that corruption thrives in secret places, and avoids public places, and we believe it a fair presumption that secrecy means impropriety.”
-Woodrow Wilson
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
There comes a time whether individually or collectively, what we witness that we remain silent about seals inevitable disastrous consequences to all. This theme has been replaying in my mind for some time and it’s no coincidence that meditating this morning, and reading supports the feelings I have been attempting to wrap my head around and make peace with. I am compelled to share. Iyanla Vanzant writes:
The only way out is truth.
When we fail to admit our faults, the faults become what everyone can see.
When we refuse to admit what we have done in the past, we block our path to the future.
Vanzant’s words can be applied to personal or individual struggles, the culture of our professional organizations, as well a a much broader collective or global perspective that is currently playing out.
What’s your truth? the thing that personally you are not proud of...
What have you been holding onto? Pause, dig deep and be honest with yourself...
How would it feel to admit one guilty secret to yourself and bring it into the light? Please give this question some serious thought...
“No matter how terrible we think we are, how bad we believe we have been, how low we think we have fallen, we can clean out our minds and begin again.” -Iyanla Vanzant
