“Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.”
-Jack Canfield
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
What are you focusing on these days?
The concept presented in the quote it’s self is pretty simple. We’ve heard many times be positive, look at the bright side, the power of positive thinking... Unfortunately, if we are being honest, it’s not that easy. Life happens and it’s is difficult to ignore the bad. The negative, what’s wrong with people, the tragedies are inescapable. You find them on every news channel. Our minds have been programmed to focus on adversity.
Gay Hendricks states, “ It takes a heroic commitment on your part to focus on what’s right.” Hendricks presents the importance of a positive focus this way:
What you focus on tends to grow.
If you want to have more joy in your relationships, you need to focus on the joy you have.
If you want more creativity in your life, you need to focus on the creative gifts you enjoy.
I believe you get the picture.
Today’s Challenge: Intentional Focus! Be the hero or your own life.
Look around and appreciate the things you see.
Pause and take stock of the richness of your life.
Appreciate more.
Notice that if by magic, you have more to appreciate.
“At the end of the day, you can't control the results; you can only control your effort level and your focus.” -Ben Zobrist
What are you willing to do to shift your focus?
Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional. Encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.
You got this!
