Thursday's Thoughts

Tavia Robinson

“Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not one has better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one’s ideas, to take a calculated risk – and to act.” -Andre Malraux

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

Reading Acts of Faith, by Iyanla Vanzant inspired these thoughts I share with you today:

Everything was once an idea in someone’s mind. Someone took time, energy, had faith, and made the commitment to make it happen.

We all have ability, skill and access to information. Question:

How many ideas have you had lately? Things you’d like to do, the quality of your life, how to make life better for others...
Why are you not acting on those ideas? Think about it... dig deep...

To help move your ideas to action look at these steps from entrepreneur.com.

4 Steps to Making Ideas Actionable (by Brenton Hayden)

1. Don’t fear failure: Free yourself up from unrealistic expectations, and don’t let the fear of failure control your future. Be willing to take a chance, and let go of the misconception that everything you do has to be an instant success.

2. Refine your idea: Be flexible, and willing to pivot from your original concept. Talk to someone and get your idea out there. Seek wise counsel. Take the feedback that’s constructive. It’s all about sharpening your idea.

3. Develop a plan: Take action. Use verbs to articulate the needed steps to bring your idea into reality. Develop a timeline. Schedule time in your calendar to work on the plan you developed.

4. Don’t give up: The best ventures often come about after relentless determination in spite of difficulty. Push through moments of doubt and roadblocks. Make adjustments along the way. Coming out the other side is one of the greatest accomplishments you can have. Set your goals, and reach for them. You’ll be glad that you did.

Today’s Challenge: Reflect, journal, plan to act!

Respond to the following in your journal:

  • What 3 great ideas are you sitting on?

  • Self, why am I resisting taking action? Acknowledge and face any obstacles and/or fears...

  • Develop a plan to bring your ideas to fruition. Let’s go..! What will it take...

“An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea.” -Buddha

Now, what are you willing to do?No excuses, challenge yourself..,

Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional. Encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
