Thursday's Thoughts:

Tavia Robinson

"Life is to be felt, not figured out..."

-Thomas Hardy

How does the quote above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

Reread the quote above..

What is Hardy saying here... What's your interpretation of his words..?

Take a moment to think about that...

In our busy world we have become accustomed to problem solving. We figure stuff out, We find solutions, push through to survive. Not a bad thing, right? We fixed it.

What caught my attention while reading this morning was the distinction made between insight and experience :

  • insight: /noun/ the capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of a person or thing.

  • experience: /noun/ practical contact with an observation of facts or events.

Gay Hendricks states in today's passage of A Year of Living Consciously that, "People's lives don't change through insight; they change through experience." To make significant change we must move past solving the problems we identify (insight) and dive deeper into why things happen (through experience).

We are excellent problem solvers. I believe if we are willing to connect with our feelings and fully experience life as it comes we can make the shift from surviving to thriving.

Today's Challenge: Be willing to explore your feelings.

In a notebook or journal ask yourself the following questions:

  • What have I been reluctant to experience?

  • Is there something I've been running from?

Whatever it is, pause for a moment to let it register in your experience. Embrace it, breathe with it, open up to it...

Don't miss your opportunity. Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
