Thursday’s Thoughts

Coach Tavia

“I have yet to find the man, however exalted his station, who did not do better work and put forth greater effort under a spirit of approval than under a spirit of criticism.”

– Charles Schwab

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

How do you listen to others? ...Think about that for a moment..

Are you highly critical... hellbent on finding fault..?

Maybe not all the time, but there is always that one person who can immediately trigger your inner beast... LOL... Your eyes roll, your mind shifts to unrelated criticism before they get out the first word.... (I'm guilty...tell me I'm not alone...lol)

I challenge you to be honest with yourself, It all starts with you. Criticism is the enemy of self-awareness.

Gay Hendricks reminds us A key listening skill is how to listen to yourself, particularly your feelings. Many people don’t listen to themselves deeply enough to know how they really feel., and one begins to project those shortcomings or self-criticisms on how we listen and see others

Today’s Task: As you go through your day, intentionally listen to yourself and others with a generous open heart:

  • Let go of your inner critic

  • Feel whatever you are feeling

  • Be open-minded

  • Accept everything you are thinking

  • when you notice your're being hard on yourself, shift back immediately

"It's better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or demons, heaven on hell."

Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
