Thursday's Thoughts

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

-Leonardo da Vinci

How does the above quote resonate with you?

...do you agree with da Vinci..?

Pause right here and take a deep breath... exhale slowly... repeat three times... calm your mind and be present...

We are at the end of the first month of the new year. Goals were set, resolutions were made and we entered 2020 with high expectations. Take a minute and reflect...

How are things really going?

...be honest... we can't change what we don't acknowledge...

Ask yourself:

  • Am I operating at the level of simplicity I want?

  • Am I satisfied?

  • Is the complexity of my life consuming way to much energy?

Chances are, whether you are a working professional, entrepreneur or stay at home parent, the balancing act of managing it all can be overwhelming. Simplifying your life can bring balance, freedom, joy and much satisfaction that will ultimately have a positive impact on all aspects of your life. It allows you to remove distractions and those things that zap your energy and take time away from the things that are important to us.

The 10 Most Important Things to Simplify in your life: by, Joshua Becker

  1. Your Possessions- declutter the non-essential possessions in your life, you will never regret it.

  2. Your Time Commitments- release yourself from the time commitments that are not in line with your greatest values.

  3. Your Goals- Reduce the number of goals you are striving for in your life. Make a list of the things that you want to accomplish in your life and choose the two most important. When you finish one, add another from your list.

  4. Your Negative Thoughts- Take responsibility for your mind. Forgive past hurts and replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

  5. Your Debt- If debt is holding you captive, learn how to get out of debt. Start today! Sacrifice luxury today to enjoy freedom tomorrow.

  6. Your Words- Use fewer words. Keep your speech plain and honest. Mean what you say and avoid gossip.

  7. Your Artificial Ingredients- Avoid trans fats, refined grain, high-fructose corn syrup, and too much sodium. Minimizing these things will improve your energy in the short term and your health in the long term. Reduce your consumption of over-the-counter medicine. Allow your body to heal naturally as opposed to building dependency on substances.

  8. Your Screen Time- Media rearranges your values and begins to dominate your life. It has a profound impact on your attitude and outlook. When you live in that world on a consistent basis, you don't even notice the impact it has on you. the only way to fully appreciate its influence in your life is to turn them off.

  9. Your Connections to the world- Relationships with others are good, but constant streams of distraction are bad. Focus on the important, not the urgent. Learn when to power off the cell phone, log off Facebook and Instagram, or not read a text. #justdoit

  10. Your Multi-Tasking_ Multi-tasking increases stress and lowers productivity, Handle one task at a time. Do it well,,, when it's complete move on to the next.

Today's Challenge: Think about where you can remove distractions and simplify your life in order to focus on the essentials.

  • Ask yourself: Will this course of action simplify of complicate my life?

  • Think and make an informed decision. Your choice.

Be intentional and encourage others to do the same... watch what happens...

You got this!
