"Freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere. Our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights and keep them. Our strength is our unity of purpose. To that high concept there can be no end save victory.”
-Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Hello Everyone,
I'm sure you've read the headlines and heard the news...
No matter which side you find yourself on politically, I'm reminded not to take for granted the freedom and human rights that I have been afforded...
For those in the past as well as those who are presently in the struggle and continue to fight, I am eternally grateful,
Take a deep breath... exhale slowly... repeat... pause for a moment and be present... take in your surroundings.... are there things you have been taking for granted... Think about it.
What are you grateful for?
Take a look at Article 1 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
Article 1: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
Ask yourself:
How can I ensure this happens in my everyday life?
...think about it... what can you do...
Article 21: (1) Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives. (2) Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country. (3) The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.
The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government... are needed services available to you... your neighbor...
In they your perspective communities and states, how are you holing elected officials accountable?
Something to think about...
Today's Kindness Challenge: Give something away that you have been holding on to... Just because... Surprise someone with a small token... Help someone who really needs it.
