Monday Madness

Tavia Robinson

”The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.” -George Bernard Shaw

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

I strongly believe the way we communicate is key to how we succeed.

communicate /verb/

to share information with others by speaking, writing, moving your body, or using other signals. (dictionary.cambridge.org)

Communicate is a verb signaling action. Communication is a skill we may benefit from evaluating and working to improve.

How well do you communicate with others? Think about that for a moment...

What is your measurement or means to determine if you are a successful communicator? Spend time with this question before you continue...

“Communicators take something complicated and make it simple.”

-John C. Maxwell

Four Basic Truths in Becoming a More Effective Communicator: from Maxwell’s book, "The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader"

1. Simplify Your Message: If you want to connect with people, keep it simple, be clear.

*Be clear as a bell.

2. See the Person: Know your audience. Focus on the people you are communicating with. Know something about them, what they need and what needs to be accomplished. *Refocus your attention.

3. Show the Truth: Credibility precedes great communication. First, believe in what you say. Second, love what you say. There is no greater credibility than conviction in action. *Live your message.

4. Seek a Response: Every time you speak to people, give them something to feel, something to remember, and something to do. If you’re successful in doing that, your ability to lead others will go to a new level. Remember, the goal of communication is action.

*Listen actively.

Monday’s Mantra: from Iyanla Vanzant’s "Until Today…"

I am devoted to healing myself and evolving with others through the process of communication.

It starts with YOU!

What are you willing to do?

***If you are struggling with communication and not sure how to move forward. Send me a direct message and let’s schedule a conversation.***

Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
