“Squeeze every drop of juice out of a lemon… learn to bounce back quickly… keep trying no matter how many failures and obstacles you encounter and learn from your mistakes. With this in mind, that next glass of lemonade will taste oh-so-much sweeter.”
-Chelsea Berler
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
When life throws you lemons how can you make lemonade?
No matter your current circumstance, we have all experienced good times. It’s easy to forget them in the midst of difficulty. Reading Iyanla Vanzant’s "Until Today..." was a reminder we all possess the power to recreate:
Your self-worth and sense of worthiness begin with the belief and understanding that you are not a victim!
People have a propensity to do mean, mindless, irrational, irresponsible and unloving things. You know that! Rather than asking why, ask:
How can I use this for my own growth? Give this question some serious thought...
Consider these 5 tips to help you move forward after a difficult situation:
1. *Adjustment: Make an effort to adjust and accept the outcome of a situation in order to move on. Being discouraged for a long time can have negative consequences on your recovery. Respond in the best possible way. Ethical behavior will decrease potential stress and ruined relationships.
2. *Strength: Difficult circumstances test an individuals emotional, mental and physical strength. Strength is something that everyone possesses but sometimes it just takes some digging and confidence to find the strength you possess. Be strong enough to get back up off the ground and keep moving forward.
3. *Focus: Focusing on how to move on and overcome a difficult situation is crucial to how it will affect you in the long run. Reflect on what went wrong and what you can learn from the situation. Focus on changing for the better and not letting a situation define or restrain you.
4. *Relationships: Difficult situations have an impact on your relationships whether or not the situation involves certain individuals or not. When something tragic happens in your life you will find out who is truly there for you. Keep close relationships with the ones you love, accept new people entering your life and don’t dwell on past relationships that weren’t meaningful.
5. **Enthusiasm: Admire all your willpower, your desire to succeed, your perseverance. Keep your attitude positive, and stay cool. Now, you are stronger, smarter, better prepared, more experienced.
“The way you respond to a situation will help you grow and move on with your life.”
-Bradley Thompson
