“If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry. If it's not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever.”
-Dalai Lama XIV
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
Action verses worry...
If “Acton” and “Worry” were in a fight, who do you predict would win? Think about that for a moment...
worry /noun/
a state of anxiety and uncertainty over actual or potential problems.
action /noun/
the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim.
a thing done; an act.
Why do you worry? Spend some time with this question...
Psychologist, writer, and teacher in the field of personal growth and relationships, Gay Hendricks states:
No inquiry on the inner plane is useful unless it translates to improved action, even social action, in the outer world.
The real reason for worry: to keep from having to take effective action.
“Action is worry’s worst enemy.” -Proverb
What action can you take to release the worry? Think about that for a moment...
Today’s Challenge: Try the “Wonder Question.”
From Gay Hendricks book, A year of Living Consciously: 365 Daily Inspirations for Creating a Life of Passion and Purpose.
When you find yourself in state of anxiety and uncertainty over actual or potential problems and begin to worry:
1. Ask the question you genuinely don’t know the answer to begin with "I wonder..."
2. Now take action, what's your plan?
Example: If your worried about not having enough money to pay all your bills
Ask yourself:
1. I wonder: How I can always have plenty of money to do all the things I want to do?
2. Action plan: Create a budget, make coffee at home, limit ordering out for lunch to once a week or once a month...
“Instead of worrying about what you cannot control,
shift your energy to what you can create” -Roy T. Bennett
What are you willing to do?
Don’t miss your opportunity! Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.
You got this!
