“The light of your enlightenment is powered by your thoughts and your words. Each time you are able to acknowledge, accept and embrace the truths about yourself, your light becomes a little brighter.”
-Iyanla Vanzant
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
The word enlightenment caught my attention.
What does enlightened men to you?
enlightened /adjective/
freed from ignorance and misinformation
based on full comprehension of the problems involved
enlightening /adjective/
providing or tending to provide knowledge, understanding, or insight
Question: When you self-reflect, or speak of yourself with others, how enlightening are your words..? Think about that for a moment...
Iyanla Vanzant shares this powerful message: from the book Until Today: Daily Devotions for Spiritual Growth and Peace of Mind...
Every being is born with enlightenment. We know everything we need to know and are equipped to do everything we need to do.
These four simple words are the key to know all and to doing everything: I can do this!
Each time we say I can’t, we dim our inner light.
Today’s Affirmation:
I am a bright light and will continue to shine.
How can you brighten your light?
"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within."
-Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
Here are 7 ways to begin the journey of believing in yourself below:
7 Awesome Ways to Begin Believing in Yourself
by Peter Economy, The Leadership Guy, inc.com
1. Be realistic about your goals: Setting goals that are achievable on a daily and weekly basis sets us on the path toward success and the belief that we can accomplish great things.
2. Surround yourself with positivity: Surround yourself with positive and generally happy people and rid yourself of as much negativity as possible--like that friend who never has a positive thing to say.
3. Acknowledge accomplishments and passions: Every time you accomplish something--no matter how trivial it may seem at first--acknowledge that you have completed something. And, think about those things you really enjoy doing and acknowledge them by indulging in your passions as often as possible.
4. Share what you have to offer: Most of us have at least one thing that we are passionate about and very good at. Share your expertise with someone else--helping others learn a new skill strengthens our belief in ourselves.
5. Reach for the stars: Go for that reach job or learn that extremely difficult skill you have been putting off because it seems to difficult. Even if you don't succeed in reaching the farthest star, you are sure to catch something extremely rewarding on the way down from all that effort.
6. Don't be afraid to speak up: If you have a question or need clarification, speak up. If you are seeing another way a system within your office can work more efficiently, tell someone.
7. Take care of yourself--you're important: Believing in yourself comes down to you and taking your journey through life on your terms. Set boundaries that you are comfortable with, take care of your body, continue to learn, and, most importantly, surround yourself with family and friends that love and support you no matter what.
"Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit." -E.E. Cummings
