“A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart.”

-Johann Wolfgang Van Goethe

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

How do you see the world? Think about that for a moment...

Positive thinking is powerful. Nothing mysterious there. The difficult part is staying positive when reality shows us something different. Negativity is abundant. We are bombarded with bad news at every turn.

I implore you not to give up. Iyanla Vanzant reminds us our mind can change the way we see things. Own your power!

(from the book Acts of Faith...)

What you believe is actually a reflection of what your thoughts are drawing to you.
When you clear what you do not want from the recesses of your mind, it will miraculously disappear from your life.

“We become what we think about.” – Earl Nightingale

7 Ways To Shut Down The Negative Voice In Your Head:

by Lea Rose Emery, bustle.com

here are some unexpected ways to clear negative energy that actually do the job, according to experts.

1. Remember That Negative Feelings Aren't All Bad: Your negative emotions are actually OK. Acknowledge them, accept them, and then do what you need to do to feel better.

2. Write Down Your Negative Thoughts: Literally writing them down and throwing them away can make a big difference. Believe you have the power to change it. Document the occurrences (negative thoughts) and get a clearer understanding of what you're saying to yourself and how you're feeling as a result. And getting rid of those thoughts (throwing them away) is just so satisfying.

3. Go Outside: Spending time outdoors is a great way to purge yourself of negative energy. Step away from the chaos of life and spend time quietly reconnecting with both nature and your thoughts.

4. Use That Screenshot: Sometimes, when you can't find the confidence within, it's OK to get some help from the outside. Taking screenshots of positive things in your life can be a huge help— compliments from friends or colleagues, things you're proud of, whatever brings you a smile... When you're feeling low, you can reference these reminders.

5. Use Reminders To Hype Yourself Up: If you need to clear out negative thoughts throughout your day, consider setting alarms or reminders with positive thoughts. "You're going to nail this meeting!" or "You're killing it" can give you a little boost and help push away some of that negative energy.

6. Look At Your Job: Work can be a huge source of negative energy, so make sure to pay attention to how you feel on the job, even if you're performing well. You you might feel nervous all the time, and worried that everything you do is wrong. It's common to take it personally and begin to question your own worth. Never let that happen/get to that point. If your job seems toxic, you need to talk to your manager or even consider changing employers.

7. Smile More: You'd be surprised at how much of an impact something as simple as smiling can have on a person. If you have trouble smiling when you're feeling blue, take a minute and think about things you're grateful for — that can give you something to smile about.

“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.”

-John Wooden

Today’s Challenge: Think negativity out of the way!

from Iyanla Vanzant’s Acts of Faith

Take out your journal, notebook or a piece of paper and thoughtfully respond to the following questions:

  • What are your three most negative thoughts? top three...

  • What techniques can you use to disempower them? spend some time here... do what will work for you...

Your choice... Own your power!

“Always end the day with a positive thought. No matter how hard things were, tomorrow is a fresh opportunity to make it better.” – Unknown

What are you willing to do?

Don’t miss your opportunity! Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
