"To be authentic, we must cultivate the courage to be imperfect and vulnerable. We have to believe that we are fundamentally worthy of love, and acceptance, just as we are. I've learned that there is no better way to invite more grace, gratitude and joy into our lives than by mindfully practicing authenticity."
-Brene' Brown
Good Morning Leaders,
Authenticity is a word we hear often and has now become the hot topic of much research and discussion in work environments.
What does authenticity mean?
The quality of being genuine or real... the state of something being legitimate and true... not false or copied... Representing one's true nature or beliefs.
Why is authenticity so important?
In your work environment, are you an authentic leader... how do you know?
Think about that for a moment... take a deep breath... exhale slowly... take some time to formulate an answer to the above questions...
Norma Hollis, a communications expert and speaker defines Authentic Leadership this way:
Authentic leaders know themselves, their personal strengths and vulnerabilities and lead with awareness of their shortcomings and how to compensate for them.
This allows them to build rapport and improve the quality of their communication skills and their ability to engage their workforce.
Authentic leaders are role models.
Have you given yourself permission to be authentic?
What is your strength... your unique gift? What is an area where you fall short? What is the strength of your team members..?
Something to think about...
Today's Challenge is from upsidethinking.com
Examine where you may be wearing a mask, hiding out, or not showing up as your most authentic self. Where can you peel back a layer and be more true to who you are and how you're being called to lead?
You got this!
