“You must live within your sacred truth.”
-Hausa Proverb
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
How are you living? Think about that for a moment. Are you being true to yourself...
We’ve heard the phrase “Stand in your truth.” It's meaning can get lost as we get caught up in performing for others, proving ourselves professionally, or trying to disprove what others say about us. In the book, Acts of Faith, Iyanla Vanzant puts this all in perspective:
It is not our responsibility to prove to people who we really are.
Our job, our responsibility, is to “be.”
What you do if proof of who you are; manifestation is realization.
What you do is a reflection of who you are.
In other words, "You can show 'them better than you can tell them!" Take a look at these steps to get on back on track.
6 Steps to Discover Your True Self (by Adam Smith success.com)
1. Be quiet: Take time to be still. Get alone, evaluate yourself, be completely truthful with yourself and see every facet of your life—the good and the bad.
What is it you like?
2. Realize who you truly are, not who you want to be: When you know who you are, you will finally see where you and your specific gifts fit into the bigger picture.
What energizes you?
3. Find what you are good at (and not good at): When your actions do nothing but drain you—rather than produce more passion and increase your drive to do more—that’s a good sign it is time to focus elsewhere. Your strengths will show you who you are.
What do you enjoy doing?
4. Find what you are passionate about: Focus more on passion; understand yourself in better ways, and you’ll make a bigger impact. Passion produces effort and continuous effort produces results, which produces a deeper discovery of your true self.
What makes you smile?
5. Ask for feedback: Hearing what others have to say about you is a helpful practice. Sometimes those closest to us can see something we might not be able to see in ourselves. Ask them two simple questions:
What strengths do you think I need to develop further?
What weaknesses do you think I need to work on?
6. Assess your relationships: When you realize you’ll never truly know anyone else until you discover yourself, the importance of knowing yourself becomes even more apparent. Almost as much as you need to know yourself, other people also need to know who you are. People need you—the real you.
Where are you when you feel content?
“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” -Dolly Parton
Who are you? Make time to go through the steps above and rediscover yourself...
What are you willing to do? Your choice... Own your power!
Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional. Encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.
You got this!
