“I don’t give them hell, I just tell the truth and they think it is hell.
-Harry S. Truman
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
Why do we hide the truth from others as well as from ourselves? Think about that for a moment...
We often respond and make statements that we believe are acceptable, politically correct, the best of the worse rather than how we really feel. Acceptability has become the new truth. Have you considered why?
Iyanla Vanzant makes it simple:
It boils down to not knowing who we are... Accepting someone else’s truth.
It is easy to see what others do to us while we forget the drama we create for ourselves.
What did you do or say today that the real you would like to erase? It's about you, just you, be honest with yourself...
Today’s Challenge: from Gay Hendricks, A Year of Living Consciously...
Practice telling the truth about that which is inarguable: who you are and how you feel.
Ask yourself how you are. Uncover the veneer of acceptability
*Make a deep, honest, and intentional inquiry into your heart and mind...
*Allow your mind to play over your physical and emotional being and take stock of where you stand. (i.e. happy, lonely, confused, satisfied, angry, exited...)
When someone asks, "How are you?" Try saying how you really feel today with every word your truth, your facts, your feelings.
“You learned to run from what you feel, and that's why you have nightmares. To deny is to invite madness. To accept is to control.”
-Megan Chance
What are you willing to do? Free yourself from the madness...
Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional. Encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.
You got this!
