“Success bases our worth on a comparison with others. Excellence gauged our value by measuring us against our own potential.”

-John Johnson

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

What is your standard of excellence? How do you measure it...

John C. Maxwell shares these 4 characteristics of highly competent people:

competent: /adjective/

properly or sufficiently qualified or capable or efficient

1. They are committed to excellence.

excellence: /noun/

the quality of excelling; possessing good qualities in high degree

Where do you excel? In what aspect of your professional responsibility...?

2. They never settle for average.

average: /adjective/

ordinary and not very special.

What is your unique and special gift? How are you using it... that thing that nobody can do like you..?

3. They pay attention to detail.

detail: /noun/

an isolated aspect of something larger

In the words of Dale Carnegie: “If you do little jobs well, the big ones tend to take care of themselves.”

What role do you play in your organization? How are you motivating the members of your team..?

4. They perform with consistency.

consistency: /noun/

a harmonious uniformity or agreement among things or parts

Consistency usually implies a positive sense of dependability.

How are you measuring up to the characteristics above?

What are you willing to do to personally improve?

Know your worth... Strive to be better today than you were yesterday... When you know better do better...

Don’t miss your opportunity. Be intentional. Encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
