Meaningful Monday

Coach Tavia

“We may feel the world is slipping out of our hands and recognize that the core of our conceived blueprint is escaping us. Let us challenge, then, a point of resilience and get out of the weeds, clear our mind and figure out "who is who" in our lives, and gauge what is valuable in our mind.”

-Erik Pevernagie

How does the quote above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

...Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

How resilient are you?

...Think about it for a moment, on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your resilience..?

COVID-19 has flipped our lives upside down. As creatures of habit, we take comfort in knowing what to expect. I’m not sure weather to laugh or cry sometimes. Everyone is struggling.

There is an upside, here we are. If your reading this, somehow you've survived. Evidently, you're doing something right.

Life as we know it will never be the same. Mindsets, everyday tasks, the way we work, interact, all have changed, and things will continue to be unsettled for a while. What I've described is the textbook definition of change at the core.”

I challenge you not to give up. Don't sell yourself short, Continue to push past surviving in order to thrive! In an article for Forbes Magazine, Lin Coughlin, author, speaker, and Committee of 200 member, reminds us that there are things that we’ve done before that will will continue to lead us to success:

5 Ways To Better Manage Change During COVID-19:

1. Create an agile go-forward plan that can evolve with changing times:

Change at core is always accompanied by strain on individuals and infrastructure, and the consequent risk of (further) destabilization and loss of momentum. Having a solid plan helps mitigate that risk—even when the plan shifts over time.  Make sure to consider how all stakeholders will be affected in different scenarios, including customers, employees, shareholders, external influencers, strategic partners and local communities.

What plan is currently in place and what strategies can you include to address how ALL stakeholders may be affected?

2. Define short-term metrics for success. Make them highly transparent and accessible:

Make sure you celebrate small successes during this time and show team members that everyone’s efforts to drive positive change are paying off.

How will you maintain transparency in these transitional times and celebrate the small success as you move forward?

3. Create different incentives:

During change at the core scenarios, employees should be recognized and rewarded for maintaining business-as-usual standards, from keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly to retaining customers.

What incentives have you added that will improve the morale of your organization?

4. Seed the development of passionate champions of change:

These are the employees up and down an organization who embrace the “what” and the “why” of potentially destabilizing change. Passionate champions become trusted influencers who provide inspiration and momentum to the rest of the organization. Seek out these leaders early and help them take a more active role in driving change.

Who in your organization stands out as a Passionate Influencer?

5. Create and continuously refine a robust communications process:

In my opinion, communication is the most important strategy to master. Be much more intentional about communicating. When teams are working virtually instead of face-to-face, or employees are dealing with extra stress, communication becomes crucial. Make sure there are frequent, multi-directional communications that address change efforts,

What will you do to intentionally improve communication at all levels in your organization?

We survived, now let's thrive! Are you ready to make the shift? Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
