Freedom Friday

Tavia Robinson

"The first and best victory is to conquer self."

-Plato

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

Self, the person you’ve known the longest and can’t get away from.

What does it mean to conquer self? Sit with the question for a moment... Dig deep...

conquer /verb/

-to gain mastery over or win by overcoming obstacles or opposition

-to overcome by mental or moral power

Why has conquering your self been difficult for you? What’s getting in the way...?

What if I told you, with time and commitment, mastering one's self is absolutely possible ?

A call to action from Iyanla Vanzant’s, Until Today: Daily Devotions for Spiritual Growth and Peace of Mind.

Are you ready for the lesson, your key to freedom, joy and peace? Here it is:
Know Your Self: No matter what you may be faced with in life,
See Your Self: No matter what someone may do to you or against you,
Accept Your Self: No matter how many times you try and fail, or fail to try,
Be Your Self: No matter whose company you are in or what they have the ability to give to you or take away from you,
Trust Your Self: Trust that your life is a classroom that will continue to provide you with the opportunities you need to master all of the lessons.
Trust that you cannot fail this course!

“A person will be called to account on Judgement Day for everything permissible he could have enjoyed and did not.” -Talmud

Today’s Challenge: from Gay Hendricks, A year of Living Consciously

1. Say each of these commitments three times out loud:

I commit to my own complete development as an individual.

I commit to my full development as an individual.

2. Get a sense of how they feel in your body and mind...

3. Periodically throughout the day circulate the following through you mind as an affirmation:

I commit to my full development as an individual.

Commitment to self is the first step.

“Natural beauty comes in all colors, strength in many forms. When we learn to honor the differences and appreciate the mix, we’re in harmony.” -Unknown

You are more than a conqueror!

What are you willing to do?

Don’t miss your opportunity! Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
