“The speaking will get easier and easier. And you will find you have fallen in love with your own vision, which you may never had realized you had… And at last you’ll know with surpassing certainty that only one thing is more frightening than speaking your truth. And that is not speaking.”
~Audre Lorde
How do the words above resonate with you?
Pause here and free yourself from distractions:
Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...
Speaking your truth means that you stay true to who you are, whether it's your feelings, opinions, or morals, no matter what anyone else may think.
Why is speaking your truth difficult for you to do? Think about that for a moment...
Perhaps it depends on where or to whom you are speaking... whether the setting is professional or personal...
What is your “why”?... why is it difficult for you... should it be..?
In the book Acts of Faith, Iyanla Vanzant presents an encouraging nudge for us all to speak our truth.
Somewhere deep down inside you don’t believe your feelings are “right “ or that you have the “right” to feel the way you do.
The only way to free yourself from the stress of not saying what you think is to speak your truth with love, clarity, and conviction.
And to speak it quickly with a conscious tongue.
Today’s Affirmation:
I speak my truth from my heart

How to Speak Your Truth with Love

Four Questions to Guide Your Truth-Telling:
1. What do I really want to say? but either I’ve stopped myself from saying it or I haven’t said it in a way the other person can really hear it...
2. If I haven’t said it, why not? Perhaps I don’t want to hurt, upset or disappoint someone else; I’ve tried to tell them this before and they haven’t listened; I wish my own opinions, needs or desires were different than they really are...
3. If I’ve said it unkindly, why? Maybe I’ve felt frustrated, and I haven’t reacted the way I’d like; I feel angry or hurt; I’ve been distracted or in a rush..,
4. How can I convey what I really want to say in a way that genuinely communicates my care, respect, and love for the other person?
Your answers to these four questions will help give structure or form to your truth-telling.
