Freedom Friday

Coach Tavia

“I have a simple philosophy: Fill what’s empty. Empty what’s full. And scratch what itches.”

How do the words above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

We have made it to another Friday: #TGIF !

Readers, Leaders and Friends, please “take a beat...”

take a beat | Stop for a moment to relax; pause and think about what you are doing (Urban Dictionary).

I agree It’s tough slowing down and taking time to be present... but it's not impossible...

Life and it’s nonstop demands can be put on hold.

We seem to glorify busyness, and become victims of time. We’ve bought into the belief that more is better. More stuff, meetings, more programs, more activity, more money... And in many cases more problems.

In the past 24 hours, how much time have you devoted to your job, your family, your friends, and yourself?

...think about that for a moment...

Quick exercise: Grab a pen and a peace of paper and figure it out:

  • Fold a piece of paper in half twice, making 4 equal quadrants.

  • Label each quadrant, 1. Job, 2. Family, 3. Friends, 4. Self

  • Record the number of hours you devoted to each quadrant.

  • Review how you spent the last 24 hours.

  • Reminder: 24 hours in a day, no more, no less

Now ask yourself, SELF, is it time to take a beat?

*What is your intuition telling you?

...think about it for a moment...

I challenge you to stop the glorification of busy!

You've navigated through the intricacies of a pandemic, adjusted to working from home, morphed into the role of teacher, supervisor, activities coordinator, cook, nurse doctor, creative accountant, and you are still standing.

“Do whatever you need to slow down. It is time to explore what you are carrying within.”

-Roxana Jones

This Friday, give yourself permission to take a beat! Over the weekend please make time for yourself and reflect on the following:

*What am I learning during this stage of my journey?

there is a lesson inn every situation, whether good or bad...

*What area stands out as something I need to work on?

....Now, what’s the plan....

What am I willing to do?

...It starts with YOU!

“...Fill what’s empty. Empty what’s full. And scratch what itches.”

Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens.

You got this!
