“But until a person can say deeply and honestly, "I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday," that person cannot say, "I choose otherwise.”

-Stephen R. Covey

How does the quote above resonate with you?

Pause here for a moment and free yourself from distractions:

...Take a deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... deep breath in... exhale slowly... calm your mind and be present...

Affirmation: “I commit to all my feelings, and to speaking about them authentically with people I meet.” (Gay Hendricks)

Our lives are shaped by tiny moments of choice... The power of choice...

choice | noun an act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities.

Choice is a powerful word. We think it's powerful because of the rewards it avails us, But really what is powerful is the fact that we can make a choice – any choice, good or bad.

What criteria do you use to make a "good" choice?

...think about that for a moment...

masterclass.com provides a 7 Step Decision Making Process:

1. Identify the problem; bad decisions are made when the root of the problem is incorrectly identified.

2. Collect data and information: Good decision making requires you to be as informed as possible and tackle the problem from all available angles. Do your research.

3. Brainstorm all possible alternatives: Use the information you collected to generate as many solutions as you can. Important decisions require outside of the box thinking. Be creative during this part of the process.

4. Weigh the alternatives: List the pros and cons, look for any red flags that may arise. Compare each potential alternative to the status quo to make sure there is real potential of improvement moving forward.

5. Take your pick: Make the hard decision. If you made an honest effort through the process, trust your gut.

6. Enact a plan: Show time. Develop a plan to put your decision into action. If this involves others, assume the role of motivator, be encouraging.

7. Review the decision: Did your decision achieve the desired results? If not, review your steps in the decision making process. Did you gather enough information? Are there ongoing processes that need to be changed to get better results?

I found this 7 Step process helpful. What are your thoughts?

Not everything is complicated. Some choices are easy to make and we fly through the steps quickly. Other decisions require more time, patients and effort on your part if you want to make a good one.

.

What are you pretending to know?

...real question... think about that seriously....

How do you know.?

...where did you get your information from... think about it

Do you reach out and connect authentically with others or stay within the bubble of your own perception of them?

...something to think about...spend some time here...

“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.”

-Roy T. Bennett

Today's challenge: If you choose to accept it... Authenticity is sexy. Commit to all your feelings, and to speaking about them authentically with people you meet.

  • Intentionally connect with others: call, FaceTime, Zoom

  • Initiate real conversations. Be honest... lead with compassion, share

  • Be present, Give, smile, serve

  • Meaningful Virtual Happy Hour....

Freedom of choice... Your choice... Be intentional, encourage others to do the same and watch what happens. Don't miss your opportunity.

You got this!
